The Calgary Zoo needed help breathing some life into their online presence and Suitcase was more than happy to help. We wanted to improve the aesthetic nature of the site to better capture the experience and wonder the zoo offers to visitors, and we also wanted to implement elements that would help people better plan and prepare themselves for their zoo trip before they even left home.

Organizing the zoo’s rich content in a hierarchy that was logical and intuitive to navigate presented some planning issues, due to the wide range of core information. We needed to recognize that the Calgary Zoo offers more than plants, animals and educational experiences for visitors; that conservation and a variety of events and programs are central to their organization as well.

Suitcase Interactive started from the ground up, looking at existing data and heuristics about visitor’s tendencies on the site. We coupled these learnings with on site interviews with zoo staff and visitors to help us create the sites flow of information and user experience. Featuring bright and engaging colors and subtle animations help bring the content to life
